The Liminal Space Connection

Weirdcore grew alongside the 'liminal space' internet genre — photographs of empty swimming pools, vacant malls, abandoned school hallways, and hotel corridors at 3am. These images triggered a specific emotional response: the memory of a place that may not have existed, familiar but wrong. Weirdcore adds a surrealist layer — the sky is inside the building; the floor is the ceiling.

Weirdcore and Mental Health Aesthetics

Weirdcore emerged partly from online communities discussing dissociation, depersonalization, and anxiety.
